In the Small Town Times/North Bay Echo Community Podcast Network podcast above, the Near North Voices Choir sings the Ukrainian national anthem at Nipissing University on Nov. 20 to mark the solemn occasion of the 1,000th day since the start of the Russian invasion.
Several of the participants are of Ukrainian origin and two, Oksana Chorba and Andrii Bieliaiev, are interviewed about their thoughts about the event and the impact of the war on their family and friends.
The anthem singing coincided with other events organized by chapters of the Canadian Ukrainian Congress.
"I feel proud that the people of Canada support Ukraine. I, every time, feel proud when singing the Ukrainian anthem but I also feel sad that we are singing to mark 1,000 days since the Russian invasion," said Andrii Bieliaiev of the North Bay Chapter of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress.
