News Release

Orders are now being taken for rain barrels, a partnership between the North Bay Heritage Gardeners, Greening Nipissing and RainBarrel.ca.
The North Bay Heritage Gardeners and Greening Nipissing are partnering in the education of the local public in the benefits of the use of rain barrels for the collection of water for gardens and in the mitigation of storm water runoff.
Rain barrels help reduce water pollution by reducing storm water runoff, which can contain pollutants like sediment, oil, grease, bacteria and nutrients.
For more information on stormwater and its effects visit: http://www.slowrain.ca/
Each rain barrel comes fully equipped with a leaf and mosquito filter basket, an overflow adaptor that permits multiple barrels to be connected in series, 1.2 metres of overflow hose and a spigot that attaches directly to a garden hose.
The price is $55 per barrel. Additional overflow hose can also be purchased if required.
Order your barrel online by going to http://rainbarrel.ca/northbay/ or call Monica at 705-472-4006 for information not available on the website or if you need assistance with online ordering.
The rain barrels will be available to pick up Saturday May 26, 2012 from 10am until 1pm at the Discovery North Bay Museum, 100 Ferguson St., North Bay, ON
