OPP: Highway 17 road rage incident leads to smashed window

WEST NIPISSING, Ont. — Police arrested and charged one person after a report of a road rage incident.

On June 2, 2024, shortly before 1:30 p.m., the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a traffic complaint on Cache Street in West Nipissing.

Nipissing West OPP reported two vehicles had been involved in a road rage incident on Highway 17 and then pulled onto Cache Street and stopped. One driver exited his vehicle and damaged the rear window while uttering a threat to harm the other driver.

As a result of the investigation, Robert Grooms, 46, from Walden, Ont., was arrested and charged with mischief under $5,000 and uttering threats.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on July 4, 2024.
