OPP: 4 dead in New Liskeard fire

NEW LISKEARD, Ont. — Four people were located deceased in a structure fire in downtown New Liskeard.

On September 19, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the Temiskaming Ontario Provincial Police and the Temiskaming Shores Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Paget Street South in New Liskeard. Four people were located deceased in the residence.

While the investigation is still in the preliminary stages, police believe there is no risk to the public at this time. Community members can expect to see an increased presence of OPP personnel and vehicles in the area as the investigation continues.

The investigation continues with the assistance of the Temiskaming OPP Crime Unit, OPP Forensic Identification Services, the Office of the Fire Marshal, and the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Services.
