Brantford Bulldogs General Manager Matt Turek announced Thursday the signing of forward and local product Briir Long to an OHL agreement.

"It’s a great feeling that such a good organization has belief in me and I’m really excited to get started," Long told BayToday via text.

The Astorville product recently skated in the GOJHL Top Prospects showcase in Ayr representing the St. Thomas Stars.

The skilled forward has posted an impressive 24 goals along with 14 assists for 38 points in just 30 games in his first-year of junior eligibility. Long plays alongside his older brother and Battalion draft pick Kaedyn Long and North Bay product Owen Ethier in St. Thomas.

A 10th round selection, 189th overall, in the 2023 OHL Priority Selection Draft, Long brings an already travelled resume to the Bulldogs. Skating with the North Bay Trappers for his U15 AAA season, Long moved to the GTHL for his draft year with the Mississauga Senators U16 AAA. After an impressive 7 points in 4 games at the OHL Cup solidified his OHL draft standing,

Bulldogs officials say Long impressed at both development camp & training camp with the Bulldogs before breaking out in St. Thomas.

“Briir Long’s development continues to impress and we are excited to receive his commitment to the Brantford Bulldogs.” said Bulldogs General Manager Matt Turek in a release.

“To do what Briir has already done as a 16-year old in a very, very good league (GOJHL) gives a glimpse at his tremendous potential. We are excited to add Briir’s skill set and character to our group moving forward.”

Long will join North Bay's Masen Wray on the Bulldogs.
