Officer assaulted at police station

When three police officers ran to the front lobby to calm him down verbally, the man assaulted one of the officers.

A North Bay police officer didn't have long to wait for backup Sunday evening after being assaulted at police headquarters.

Sunday at approximately 8:15 p.m., a man went to the North Bay Police headquarters in relation to a motor vehicle collision involving a vehicle he owned.

While at the front desk, he became extremely irate and began screaming and swearing at the civilian employees.

When three police officers ran to the front lobby to calm him down verbally, the man assaulted one of the officers.

It was at this time that police gained physical control of him and arrested him for causing a disturbance and assaulting police.

Police arrested and charged:

Randy Denis Cloutier, age 48, of North Bay with:

  • One count of cause disturbance;
  • One count of assault police officer;
  • One count of possession of a prohibited weapon; and
  • Two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Following a search of Cloutier and of his vehicle after his arrest, police seized:

  • a folding knife;
  • 37.5 Methamphetamine pills;
  • over 90 grams of marijuana; and
  • $445 in cash.

Cloutier was held in custody for a bail hearing.
