Cultural Industries Ontario North (CION) says that submissions are open for the 2024 edition of the Northern Ontario Music and Film Awards (NOMFA), which will occur from June 27-29 in Sudbury.
With over 11 award categories, CION encourages regional filmmakers, actors, screenwriters, musicians, and sound engineers to complete a submission form for eligible projects released between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2023, and join the honouring of creative talent from northern Ontario.
Potential award nominees have until March 15, to submit their bid for the consideration of an independent jury, which comprises Canadian music, film, and television industry executives, practitioners, and representatives. Successful applicants will be invited to attend the award ceremony and conference.
“NOMFA has traditionally been a venue for Northern Ontario musicians and filmmakers to gather, network with fellow industry members and grow their careers, all while celebrating the successes of Northern Ontario’s music, film, and TV industries," says Patrick O’Hearn, CION’s Associate Executive Director. "We can’t wait to finally bring this amazing group of talent together again.”
Interested parties can now review the NOMFA award categories, eligibility requirements, and nominee submission forms at cionorth.ca/nomfa. A $15 submission fee applies to all submissions.
NOMFA includes music and film showcases that celebrate local talent; industry panel discussions and workshops that propel artistic careers; networking opportunities with attending industry delegates; and skill-building events aimed at connecting and empowering those working in Northern Ontario's music and media arts sectors.
CION will announce award nominees in April of 2024, along with venue and program details for the Conference and Ceremony. Full NOMFA Conference passes will also be released, along with individual tickets for panels, workshops and showcases.
