North Bay ranks #1 nationally for late night Cannabis orders: Uber

Although North Bay didn’t make the list of top partying cities this year, it did rank number one for the most late-night cannabis orders in Canada

In 2021 North Bay won the dubious honour of being the most secretive municipality in Canada.

Now we hear from Uber that we top another dubious distinction, the Canadian city placing the most late-night cannabis orders.

The survey comes from Mediaprofile, the public relations company for Uber.

"Halloween is just around the corner, and Canadians are ready to enter their next partying era," says an email to BayToday. "To keep the good times going, Uber Canada is releasing its annual Nightlife Index, revealing what Canadians have been getting up to during their nighttime escapades throughout the year."

Although North Bay didn’t make the list of top partying cities this year, it did rank number one for the most late-night cannabis orders in Canada.

But a word of caution, it's not exactly scientific.

We questioned the company on its methodology and found It's based on the number of grocery users on the Uber app in North Bay and then it's compared to the number of cannabis orders between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. It depends on the number of users on the app.

A spokesperson was unable to give us the sample size.

So, taken with a grain of salt, here are some of Uber's other findings.

  • Top Party CitiesFor the past two years, London has reigned supreme over Canada’s nightlife scene, setting the standard for partygoers across the country. However, Toronto snatched the crown as the nation’s top party city this year, pushing London down to second place.
  • Fave Hangover CuresIf Canadians have perfected one thing about recovering from a big night out, it's the art of consistency. For the second year in a row, hot coffee and hashbrowns reign as the top go-to hangover cures.

“As you experience your city's nightlife, it's important to make safe choices and not drive under the influence. Make a plan—reach out to a friend, arrange a designated driver, stay overnight, use the Uber app, or take public transit to ensure a safe journey home,” said Dawn Regan, Chief Operating Officer for MADD Canada.
