Two men faced drug-related charges in Barrie yesterday after an assist from city police.
A news release issued by the Barrie Police Service recognized the efforts of the North Bay Police.
Two North Bay Police Service street crime unit officers were travelling to Toronto last night to present the successful Fentanyl Patch 4 Patch program to colleagues from the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police, the Ministry of Health, the College of Physicians and Surgeons, the Ontario Medical Association, the College of Pharmacists, the Office of the Chief Coroner of Ontario, and the Deputy Director of the Drug Enforcement Unit, Ontario Provincial Police today.
While driving to Toronto during the evening hours, they spotted a vehicle in Barrie belonging to an owner who is known to police and immediately informed Barrie Police.
“Barrie officers conducted surveillance on a south end business parking lot and observed two males engage in a drug transaction in the lot,” the Barrie Police Service reported.
“Officers arrested two males at the scene without incident. A 55-year old North Bay resident was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. A 44-year old Toronto resident was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Trafficking in a Controlled Substance. Both men were held in custody pending a bail hearing.”
Barrie Police also seized a quantity of what is believed to be powder cocaine and crack cocaine with an estimated street value of approximately $7,100.
