A platoon at the North Bay Police Service that was in close contact with a COVID-19 case has completed its quarantine period and now are able to return to work.

On June 9, the Police Service reported that a member of the Service had tested positive for COVID-19 putting a number of close-contact employees into quarantine.

"As of midnight Thursday, all officers who had been in quarantine will no longer be required to quarantine," said David Woolley, Communications Officer with the North Bay Police Service.

"None of them tested positive for COVID-19."

The Police Service would not confirm how many officers or employees had been put in quarantine due to the COVID-19 case.

The North Bay Police have been working closely with the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit.

"As we have said before we do not provide information at an individual case level what I can say is that whenever a case is identified that any employer such as the North Bay Police or any other institution or employer in North Bay, we do follow up with all cases and anyone who has been indicated as a high-risk close contact to make sure individuals isolate immediately, get tested, and then we continue monitoring them for the duration of their case and contact management period," said Shannon Mantha, Chief Nursing Officer at the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit.

Woolley stated that the Service had put in place enhanced safety measures to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

"The exposure did not occur in the workplace, but NBPS has requested that several other members of the Service self-isolate as a precaution since they may have been in contact with the member who tested positive for COVID-19," Woolley continued.

NBPS says it will not be releasing the name of the member who tested positive for COVID-19 and the Police say there is no danger to the public.
