Motorists travelling along Lamorie Street in West Ferris early this morning were concerned after seeing a fire truck from Fire Station Three in the ditch.
Deputy Fire Chief Greg Saunders said it was the result of mechanical failure.
The rad blew but fortunately there were no injuries as a result of the incident.
“The reservoir is in the cab above the window, so when it blew, it actually blew in the cab. So, the driver had to make an emergency stop as quickly and safely as possible. Nobody was hurt,” explained Saunders.
Fortunately, firefighters were not responding to an emergency call at the time.
The truck is out of service and had to be towed for repair.
“It was probably a design flaw in the truck because we’ve actually had that happen before. It is something we’re going to have to address obviously.”
The fire truck has been replaced with one from the fleet.
