Nipissing/Canadore campus used to have its own shared bar for over 20 years. The Wall Bar & Grillhouse closed its doors on April 20, 2016. At the time, the Student Union mentioned the Wall's replacement would be in the new Student Union Building which is where On The Rocks is located.
Bus transportation will be provided to patrons on both nights and will have pick-up and drop-off sites at Nipissing and Canadore residences, as well as stops along McKeown Avenue and Gormanville Road.
Campus Security will be working with GardaWorld to ensure a secure and enjoyable environment.
"Safety and well-being of patrons will be the top priority," the release stated.
University officials are also excited to have the new location to bring in alumni for the Homecoming weekend this fall.
“On The Rocks Nightclub will offer students a safe and convenient place to gather and socialize and will contribute to a vibrant campus life at Nipissing,” said Renée Hacquard, Assistant Vice-President, Finance & Infrastructure, Nipissing University.
A calendar of bar nights and events will be released prior to September on social media.
