Multiple weapon charges laid after incident at Lakeshore Tim Hortons

Police were called after reports of someone holding a crossbow outside Tim Hortons on the corner of Marshall and Lakeshore Drive

Police say a man wielding a crossbow was arrested at this Tim Hortons over the weekend.

A North Bay man is charged with multiple weapons offences, including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose after a crossbow was brought to a Tim Horton's on Lakeshore Drive Saturday evening.

On August 31 around 5 p.m., police were called after reports of someone holding a crossbow outside Tim Hortons on the corner of Marshall and Lakeshore Drive. At least four police cruisers arrived, found, and arrested the man.

Police say at this time, they have no information suggesting that the accused fired the crossbow.

Curtis Scriver, 26, is charged with:

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Two counts of unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Three counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order
  • Failure to comply with an undertaking
  • Fail to comply with a probation order
  • Three counts of failure to comply with a prohibition order

Searches by police resulted in the seizure of:

  • A compound crossbow and accompanying ammunition
  • A switchblade knife (prohibited weapon)
  • Brass knuckles (prohibited weapon)

Scriver was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
