A home on Metcalfe Street was destroyed during an early Sunday morning blaze.
The house was fully engulfed and flames could be seen from a few kilometres away.
No one was injured.
When fire personnel arrived the fire had already reached flash-over, blowing out the windows on the first and second floor.
The first floor was fully engulfed with fire on the second floor extending into the attic. Fire crews immediately began defensive operations to control the fire and protected adjacent properties and exposures.
The fire was brought under control quickly, however, fire crews remained until after 10 a.m. ensuring that all fires were extinguished; overhaul operations were hampered by void spaces and the structural stability of the roof and attic.
An NBFES fire inspector has completed his investigation and the fire has been deemed accidental caused by smoking materials.
North Bay Police, EMS, Hydro and VCARS responded as well.
Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading into adjacent properties but the damage to the home was extensive.
