Former councillor Dave Mendicino wants back in the game and filed nomination papers to run for North Bay council again this fall.
Why is he running again?
"In short…I miss it! I miss being a Councillor and serving our Community, I miss being a Councillor and working hard for this great City. Having been away for four years, I bring a fresh new experienced perspective back to the table," he said in a news release.
Mendicino says if elected, his first priority will focus on jobs and population growth.
He expects to recruit new jobs from Southern Ontario.
"The Greater Toronto Area is trying to manage explosive growth, we are trying to ignite ours. We can be their solution as a better alternative for companies and their Employees," he added.
"It’s the City’s responsibility to set the stage for a friendly business environment. It’s our job to make it easy for business to do business.
"I am also extremely passionate about being a healthy community. An active transportation masterplan, age-friendly community, updated recreational facilities, modern parks/beaches/trails and community health care are some initiatives that are important for existing citizens and vital in attracting new businesses and people."
Nominations for council and school board must be filed by 2 p.m. on nomination day, Friday, July 27.
The election will be held Monday, October 22, Voters will elect mayors, councillors, school board trustees and all other elected officials in all of the province's municipalities.
