A Mattawa resident is facing multiple drug charges in connection to a January 6 investigation.
The OPP says members of the North East Region Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances (CDSA) search warrant on a residence in Mattawa on January 6.
A search of the residence led to the seizure of drugs suspected to be: fentanyl, hydromorphone, oxycodone, cocaine, methamphetamine known as crystal meth, and methamphetamine pills known as speed.
Police estimate the value of the drugs seized to be approximately $7,600. Canadian and American currency was also seized in the residence.
As a result of the investigation, Edward Delage, 52 years of age, of Mattawa, Ontario, was charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA);
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Opioid (other than heroin) (three counts) contrary to section 5(2) CDSA;
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Methamphetamine (two counts) contrary to section 5(2) CDSA; and
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.
The accused has been held in custody pending bail and is scheduled to appear in court today at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay.
