The Gap store at Northgate Shopping Centre is not on the chopping block as of yet.
“We have not received any notice that our location will be closing,” noted Jordanna Grant, marketing director at Northgate Shopping Centre.
On March 1, Gap announced plans to close a number of its 230 Canadian stores as a way to help modernize its marketing along with help the company develop future growth in stores, outlets and online offerings.

However, Gap Inc. is refusing to say exactly how many of the 230 stores it is closing, will be in Canada, but officials say the majority of international network closures will be in North America.
The parent company of retailer Gap did confirm it will be following through with closures during a two-year process.
Meantime, Payless Shoe Stores is another company looking to close Canadian stores and their announcement will impact a North Bay location.

The North Bay location at Northgate will be closing in May according to sources and will be among nearly 250 locations that will be shutting their doors.
Currently, the North Bay location is already holding sales from 30 to 50 per cent off.
The Kansas-based discount footwear retailer announced on February 19 that it will soon file for creditor protection in Canada, making way for liquidation sales at the 248 locations it owns in the country.
