The team got an invite to Parliament Hill and even got to meet Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as part of the send off.   Innes also got to meet members of the Ottawa Senators.

“It was great to be invited to Parliament Hill with the team Tuesday,” stated Innes.

“We received a special invite to the Senators game and me and chatted with defenceman Mark Borowiecki.  We even got a tour of the Senators dressing room,” he continued.

“We had our big send off party today here in Ottawa. Half the team flew out Tuesday night and the rest of us fly out Wednesday.” stated Innes.

Innes will be competing in wheelchair basketball, indoor rowing and powerlifting at the Invictus Games.

“I’m feeling amazing,” said Innes.

I am anxious and ready to compete. I have my last workout on Canadian soil with my teammate Micheal Thier at a local gym here in Ottawa on Wednesday morning.”

He was one of 40 athletes chosen to represent Canada.

The Sydney Games will attract more than 500 competitors from 18 nations to compete in 11 adaptive sports in total.
