Water levels continue to rise on Lake Nipissing.

North Bay Mayor Al McDonald went to social media to update the Lake Nipissing status this morning.

"City of North Bay staff are completely mobilized this morning as planned. 1,000 pre-filled sandbags are currently being offloaded at Sunset Park with Champlain delivery to follow," he stated.

"Trucks are available at both sites to assist in delivery for those who require help. City Staff will continue to monitor the two sites and add additional resources if required."

The City of North Bay is advising residents that Lake Nipissing water levels remain high and are expected to continue to rise daily over the next week. The lake level now sits at 196.45

Public Works Canada is slowing opening dams along the French River that control the outflow from Lake Nipissing in order to alleviate some of the pressure.
