North Bay voted, and the star of the series Carter was the overwhelming favourite in a poll in which BayToday asked readers who their favourite movie star who worked in North Bay was.

Out of a poll of a shortlist of eight, O'Connell captured 230 votes good for 42 per cent of the vote.
In 2017, Jerry O'Connell was given a key to the City of North Bay for all his interaction in the North Bay area, including singing the national anthem at a North Bay Battalion game and even appearing as a guest referee at a local wrestling event.

And way back in 1941, James Cagney visited North Bay as part of the production of the film Captains of the Clouds.
