It's time to register to your ice hut

To protect the environment and ensure the safety of anglers and boaters, anglers must register new or previously unregistered ice fishing huts on area lakes.

Registration is free and helps prevent anglers from abandoning their huts. Abandoned huts can end up in waterways when the ice thaws.

On January 1, 2008, all ice huts used on lakes within the boundaries of Fisheries Management Zone 11 must be registered. To register your ice hut in North Bay, call the local ministry office at 705-475-5550.

Anglers must remove ice huts from all North Bay District lakes by March 31.
