A snowmobiler is in serious condition in hospital after one of two sled accidents over the past few days.
On February 16, at 8:30 p.m., the North Bay OPP was called to a snowmobile accident on Culham Road in Nipissing Township.
Investigation revealed that the snowmobile left the trail. The driver suffered serious injuries and was brought to the hospital.
An OPP Traffic Collision Investigator and a Reconstructionist assisted with the investigation.
Also, just after noon, the previous day police were called to investigate a snowmobile accident on Trail D, near Village Road, in East Ferris Township.
The snowmobile hit a snowbank and rolled. The driver suffered minor injuries in the collision.
The driver was charged with "Drive with no insurance and" and "Snow Vehicle Permit Not Issued."
The North Bay OPP says that the majority of snowmobile fatalities and collisions investigated by the OPP are linked to poor driving behaviour and snowmobilers taking unnecessary risks.
