Community feedback and increased demand have led One Kids Place Children’s Treatment Centre (OKP) to extend its hours in the Nipissing region, effective September 4.

The centre will now be open every second Wednesday from 4:30 to 7 p.m. "to enhance accessibility and provide families with more flexible scheduling options,} according to a release.

"We recognize the need for appointment times outside the standard work and school day," said Steve Deacon, chair of the board of directors. “This change is intended to ease the burden on families, allowing them to manage appointments without disrupting work and school schedules.”

“Extending our service hours will help alleviate some of the pressures families face and ensure they receive timely access to essential treatments," said Brenda Loubert, executive director. "One Kids Place will monitor the use of the extended hours and hopes to expand to other service areas where feasible.”

One Kids Place offers a comprehensive range of services, including autism services, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech-language pathology, social work, and therapeutic recreation. The Centre also provides various clinics and camps to support children and youth from birth to 19 years old.
