A driver traveling on O'Connor Line in the Powassan area was arrested after being involved in a single motor vehicle collision.
On December 15, 2023, just after 8 p.m., OPP received information that a vehicle had been involved in a collision.
The OPP say officers attended the scene and upon speaking with the driver it was determined that he had consumed an alcoholic beverage.
The driver was arrested and transported to the North Bay Detachment of the OPP for further testing.
As a result of the investigation Darren Young, a 50-year-old from Powassan was charged with operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on January 9, 2024.
The accused was also issued a 90-day driver's licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Drivers are reminded that no amount of alcohol or drugs in your system is safe when driving.
