One visit to the 'Memories of My Mother' art exhibit and you will be hooked on this one-of-a-kind tribute to mothers.

On loan from the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre in Southampton, Ontario, the Memories of My Mother exhibit is not to be missed. Each of the 65 hooked rugs on display is completed by a touching narrative.

During the mid-19th century, floor coverings were still considered to be a luxury in Canadian homes. In fact, much of the clothing worn by Canadians in the 19th century was recycled into quilts and rugs. This exhibit highlights the fine art of rug hooking and its roots in early Canada.

Entries from across the country weave tales of laughter, kindness and above all, the unique relationship we share with our mothers.

This unique presentation is brought to you by; Discovery North Bay, The Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre and The Rags to Riches Rug Hooking Society of North Bay.

The exhibit opens Saturday, December 9th at 2pm at Discovery North.

Discovery North is located in the old CP Rail station at Oak and Ferguson Streets.
