The Heritage Railway and Carousel will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday due to the high temperatures in the region to start the week.

Environment Canada has issued a Heat Warning as the area is expected to experience temperatures in the high 20s and early 30s with the humidex to be in the mid to high 30s.

Don Coutts, Manager of the Heritage Railway says they hope to re-open on Thursday.

"We are very concerned for the safety of our riders and the public we serve," said Coutts in a release.

"We also have a number of seniors serving as volunteers who we are concerned for as well.

Coutts notes that for those who do want to cool off, the Rotary Splashpad located behind the North Bay Museum will remain open.

The miniature railway got its start in North Bay back in 1994 and the Heritage and Winter Wonderland carousels opened in 2005.
