There’s still time for the public to provide comment through an online survey regarding the future uses of the trails at the Laurentian Escarpment Conservation Area.
A news release from the Conservation Authority says the information gathered will help the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority (NBMCA) create a new multi-use master plan for the trails.
Public comment is invited through the online survey until July 15.
A community consultation with the design consultants Alpine Bike Parks held on May 23rd saw close to 50 people attend, representing multiple user groups including mountain bikers, hikers, dog walkers and environmentalists. Their comments, together with those submitted through the online survey will be taken into consideration when drafting the Master Plan.
“If someone missed the May public meeting, here’s another chance for them to share their thoughts on trail design, multiple uses and the ecology of the trails, ” said Troy Storms, Supervisor of Field Operations for NBMCA.
After the Master Plan is drafted, there will be an opportunity for public comment and feedback.
The final Master Plan will require approval from the NBMCA Board of Directors as well as from the private property owners who permit access to their properties for the Laurentian Escarpment Conservation Area trails.
You can access the survey through the NBMCA website www.nbmca.on.ca or through the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/LECA-ABP.
