Record lovers rejoice as the North Bay Record Show is on the horizon. This Saturday, September 28th, get your vinyl fix at the Elks Lodge at 325 Elks Lane, off Trout Lake Road. Admission is $5 and the show is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. However, for those on a true record quest, you can pay $10 for an early bird admission at 9 a.m.

The record show is organized by Kristi Pearce and Jamie Strawn, who run Callander Bay Records on Callander’s Main Street.

“It’s a lot of fun,” Pearce said, speaking of putting together the event, which takes place each Spring and Fall. “It’s fun to get together with all the other dealers and talk records. It’s nice to meet up a few times a year and see how everybody’s year went, see what’s hot and what’s not” on the record front.

Besides Callander Bay Records, there will be around 10 other vendors on site, Strawn noted. Each will have its own stacks of records, so prepare for some serious bin-diving. There will be seas of LPs, CDs, and 45s as well. All genres, all styles. Other music memorabilia will also be available, such as T-shirts and photos.

Although it’s tough to put a number on the amount of vinyl that enters the building, Strawn estimates at least 10,000 records will be in the house this Saturday. He and Pearce alone bring in around 1,700. The odds are high that you’ll be able to scratch a few titles off your must-have list.
