The daughter of the structure's owner, Jenna Bitis writes on BayToday:
Hi everyone. I would like to thank you all for your kind words & messages.
This was our garage. It is completely gone, but it could've been much worse.
We were able to return to our house last night. Everyone is ok, just in shock. It happened so quickly that it was really unbelievable. As we slowly come to grips with things, all I ask is that for those who have been slowing down to take a look - just remember that school is back in session tomorrow. We've had people drive slow, stop, speed by only to back up to take a look.
We're right off of O'Brien which is always crazy when it comes to car & people traffic, so please be mindful of the wintery conditions & watch out for people, kids, & other vehicles as traffic flow in the area will increase.
Things that are needed at this moment are just a few shovels as ours are frozen from the water, & any men's winter gear (toques, boots, gloves, jackets, hoodies) as my Dad only has the jacket he brought into the house that day & left all his other items in the garage. Thank you again everyone for your kind words, my family & I appreciate it❤️ If you do wish to donate here is a link. https://www.gofundme.com/help-rebuild-dads-business...

Original story:
Smoke and flames could be seen from kilometres away as fire crews are battling a structure fire on Dudley Street on the North end of the city.
O’Brien Street has been closed to traffic near the bypass to Lansdowne due to the heavy smoke.
Fire crews are battling the blaze from both Hutcheson and Dudley Avenues.
Fire Chief Jason Whiteley told BayToday the blaze started in a detached garage and no one has been reported injured.
However, firefighters are being cautious due to reports that there are cleaning products inside the detached garage.
