Fire department overrun by ghosts and goblins

Almost 9,000 attended the Fire Department's Halloween event

The North Bay Fire Station #1 proved a popular destination for the City's kids seeking Halloween treats.

"Last night our local North Bay firefighters in partnership with the great people at the North Bay Association for Community Living put on a Halloween event that brought 8,891 people through the haunted house at Fire Station 1," Deputy Chief Greg Saunders says.

"The Halloween haunted house is an amazing initiative that has been going on for over 30 years and a great way that our firefighters are able to give back to the community that they cherish and serve."

Saunders had special thanks for the North Bay Robotics TEAM 1705 for the demonstration they put on for the kids and the support they provide every year. Kathy Faulkner and Megan Chenier drew praise for their efforts in making the night such a tremendous success as did the high school student volunteers that helped out last night.

"The night could not have happened without the generous support of the community whose donations of both money and candy put a smile on all the young faces at the fire station," added Saunders. "We would like to extend a special note of gratitude to the following for their considerable support:

  • Patricia and her staff at Le Towing and their amazing support every year
  • Dave Russell and his team at Freshco
  • Cody Jackson and his team at Food Basics
  • Stu Parker and his team at Independent Grocers

"This event cannot happen without the support of the community. Special thanks to the North Bay Guardians, and North Bay Parks and Public Works staff for their assistance and support in closing down the roads in the area and keeping our young goblins and angels safe last night."

Police spokesman David Wooley reports no incidents of note in the City last night except for a few noise complaints from loud parties.
