Families First celebration returns to ring in the new year

'It's a drug and alcohol-free environment, ensuring a family-friendly experience'

The countdown is on for families to ring in the festivities at the annual Families First New Year's Eve Celebration.

The popular event returns this year to Memorial Gardens and Thomson Park.

This free family event, hosted by the Families First Committee, will take place on Sunday, Dec. 31, from 5 until 9 p.m., featuring face painting, button making, a colouring contest, magic shows, interactive reptile displays, skating, and a swim session from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Y.M.C.A.

The event will end with fireworks at 9 p.m.

"We invite families to join us for a safe and enjoyable New Year's Eve celebration," said Wendy Prieur, Chair of the Families First Committee. "It's a drug and alcohol-free environment, ensuring a family-friendly experience."
