For another year members of the North Bay Police Service and area emergency services are helping to raise funds for CIBC’s Run for the Cure, which helps raise awareness and funds for breast cancer.

The yearly fundraising challenge which was launched Tuesday morning at North Bay Police headquarters, pits area community services against each other to raise money for breast cancer research and awareness. To raise the stakes and help bring in more money for a good cause, the leadership of the services that raise the least funds have their nails painted pink.

"The North Bay Police Service is excited to compete in our fifth year of fundraising for CIBC’s Run for the Cure in support of the Canadian Cancer Society," says a police release.

"This important initiative raises funds for breast cancer awareness and research. This fundraising competition between area emergency services is a fun and effective way to raise money for an important cause. Over the five years that we have been taking part, this competition has raised over $17,500. We look forward to another successful year of fundraising and, in a month when the fundraising totals are counted, we know that our competitors will look great in pink!"

In 2023, competitors raised more than $5,700. In 2022, competitors raised more than $7,250, and in 2021, more than $4,600.
