Claw hammer used in break and enter attempt

A North Bay man faces a weapon charge after police foiled a break-and-enter in the city last Thursday.

On September 19 at 11:30 a.m., a man was seen by a witness trying to open a gate to the rear yard of a house in the 500-block of McNamara Street.

Police say he was using a claw hammer in the attempt. Officers arrived and made an arrest. Searches by police located the claw hammer and a flashlight.

Kyle Marc Joseph Pitre, 38, is charged with:

  • Break, enter a dwelling house with intent to commit indictable offence
  • Possession of break-in instruments
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

Pitre was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
