The North Bay Celebrity Hockey Classic with proceeds going to Easter Seals has been cancelled.
“The North Bay Celebrity Hockey Classic has been postponed until 2017. Check back later in the year for more information,” was stated on the North Bay event website: http://celebrityhockeyclassics.com/north-bay/north-bay-celebrity-hockey-classic/
Easter Seals officials say they did not have enough teams which led to the postponement. However, they insist Easter Seals is committed to running a tournament in North Bay at a later date.
The event was scheduled to take place today and Friday and would have been an eight-team tournament format where local teams were asked to raise funds with an opportunity to draft an NHL great to play with them during the two day Easter Seals initiative.
The event would have started with a draft night and ended with games the following day.
Possible NHL alumni who would have attended were Al Iafrate, Brad May and Rick Vaive.
