“Go Trout Creek!”

So exclaimed East Ferris’ Mayor, Pauline Rochefort, after council passed a resolution to support neighbouring Trout Creek in its bid to be come the next Kraft Hockeyville.

Trout Creek is working hard to make a big splash to get the attention of Kraft Hockeyville.  Winners of the annual competition receive the grand prize of $250,000, which can go a long way to repair and maintain a town’s arena.

The arena within the Trout Creek Community Centre, at 181 Main Street West, Trout Creek, would benefit from such a windfall. Opened in 1972, the rink has seen better days, and the money from Kraft Hockeyville would be a boon to the arena and town.

Plus, there are a lot of hockey fans in Trout Creek, and becoming Kraft Hockeyville for 2025 would be an honour indeed.

East Ferris wants to help bring that dream to life for them as well. The municipality recently passed a resolution fully supporting Trout Creek’s efforts. The motion noted the competition “Is an exciting opportunity for Trout Creek and the Municipality of Powassan to showcase the community spirit and passion for hockey.”

The motion continued, “It is important for the Municipality of East Ferris to lend support to Trout Creek in their bid for the Kraft Hockeyville title, recognizing the positive impact such an achievement will have on the entire region.”

To help Trout Creek claim the crown, East Ferris has pledged to share information to social media and urged residents to share photos, videos, and stories to the Kraft Hockeyville website to support the Trout Creek Community Centre.
