Local drivers passed the test, but this one wasn't in school.
Police have been closely watching drivers since students returned to school on September 8th, especially in school zones and along school bus routes.
The action was for a two-week period during the annual “Back to School” traffic campaign.
Every school bus driver was told to use Ministry-approved infraction report forms to help police in future to help in the prosecution of offenders.
The results?
Just one driver was caught passing a school bus with flashing red lights and stop arms extended.
A school bus driver used an infraction form to report to police that an oncoming driver travelling in the 200 block of Second Avenue West on September 14th at 3:38 p.m. failed to stop.
The bus driver told police the motorist as a young man with dark hair who was talking on his cell phone at the time.
Police are now investigating.
In addition, North Bay police issued provincial offence notices to eight drivers who were speeding in school zones.
High-infraction bus zones, between 7:45 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. and between 3:10 p.m. and 3:45 p.m., have been identified as:
- Algonquin Avenue;
- Lakeshore Drive;
- Airport Road;
- Gormanville Road;
- Jane Street;
- Cassells Street; and
- Front Street.
