Not only is it going to be a green Christmas, iIt also looks like North Bay will ring in Christmas without its large downtown Christmas tree.

This morning city crews were called to the downtown area after the tree collapsed due to the high winds.

"We had a bit of an issue with winds," says the DIA's Jeff Serran via FaceBook.

There are no reports of injuries.

North Bay has been under a wind warning with gusts exceeding 60 km/h and peaking at 90 km/h.

Environment Canada says the winds are expected to ease up this afternoon.

Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.
