Clean, Green, Beautiful North Bay (CGB) is a local non-profit organization whose mission is to foster stewardship of North Bay’s land, water and community with a focus on preserving the natural beauty of the city.

Through their many environmental initiatives, they continue to prove their exceptional commitment and dedication to enhancing the North Bay community.

These initiatives include community-wide cleanups, tree planting projects and public art installations.

Thanks to the efforts of volunteers, over 30,000 bags of garbage have been collected since the organization started in 2019.

“This is such a pleasant surprise,” said Hariett Madigan, president of Clean, Green, Beautiful North Bay. “Everyone is involved in Clean, Green, Beautiful so an award like this is inclusive of the whole community. We all work together.”

“We don’t do anything without partnership and collaboration, so we’re sharing this with everyone who has ever picked up litter, planted a tree or created public art,” Madigan added.

“Winning this is wonderful,” Madigan continued. “I think it's an opportunity for the community to see a manifestation of all the work they do in an award. This is the result of all the things we did together.”

The efforts that Clean, Green, Beautiful North Bay continuously make have motivated other community members to follow in their pursuit of sustainability.

“On a personal level, I have been inspired by CGB to do my part by picking up litter on my daily walks and participating in the semi-annual community clean-ups,” shared City Councillor and Deputy Mayor Maggie Horsfield.

“It’s organizations like Clean, Green, Beautiful that truly inspire and uplift communities to come together and work together towards a common cause,” Horsfield said.

Through their collaborative work and advocacy for sustainable practices, the organization hopes to continue to inspire others to take action and better our local environment.

“Our committee is honoured to be selected for the Environment award as it fits so well with our slogan, ‘raise the bar of kindness for planet and people’,” Madigan said.

The Environment award recognizes a person or group that has had an important positive impact on our environment, both man-made and natural.

Congratulations, Clean, Green, Beautiful North Bay!
