Noah Dugas was a healthy, kind and vibrant 13-year-old boy who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He especially loved playing hockey, water skiing, dirt biking and fishing.
Despite suddenly experiencing an illness that caused many challenges and hardships, he faced every day with a smile and a brave heart. During this time, Dugas showed determination and resilience and woke up every day telling himself that he wouldn’t give up no matter what.
After months of doctor's appointments and treatments, an unexpected brain bleed tragically took Dugas’ life at just 13 years old.
His final gift was helping the lives of seven people through organ donation.
The NoahStrong organization was then created by the Dugas family in his honour.
NoahStrong supports families that are experiencing similar situations through a number of initiatives and programs. Some of these programs include the distribution of comfort packs that are provided to families in crisis and in need of essential items, assisting caregivers with short-term accommodations while their loved ones are hospitalized and the NoahStrong awards and bursaries program that recognizes and supports students who exemplify kindness, strength and leadership.
The 7N1D NoahStrong: Gift of 8 campaign encourages individuals to check their donor status and potentially give the gift of life and opportunity to others, as Dugas did.
NoahStrong also financially supports many community organizations including the North Bay Santa Fund, Rotary for Kids, One Kids Place and the Holland Bloorview Research Institute.
Additionally, the charity hosts a NoahStrong day, celebrating community giving, which unites over 1500 families and youth through a fun-filled event each year.

“Every day counts and what people remember you for is your kindness, strength and resiliency,” Dugas said. “We are truly honoured that our son was chosen as this year’s recipient of the Community Builders Award for Legacy.”
“We are so proud of Noah’s legacy. We encourage everyone to think about what kind of legacy they would like to leave behind," shared Dugas. "Thank you very much for this honour."
The Legacy Award is awarded posthumously to an individual who has created lasting change and measurable difference in our community through commitment and perseverance.
