The 2022 Neighbourhood Clean-Up Challenge was launched Thursday morning at Memorial Garden's Sports Hall of Fame.
Hariett Madigan, Chair of Clean, Green, Beautiful North Bay, along with other dignitaries and sponsors launched this year's Neighbourhood Clean-Up Challenge in front of an enthusiastic crowd at the local arena and said thank you to many of the Clean, Green, Beautiful 2022 sponsors.
"We are in our fourth year and we want to keep the momentum going," noted Madigan.
"The whole objective for Clean, Green Beautiful is not only to be just litter-free, but it is also to engage the community in stewarding and get that sense of belonging that we need to feel to be part of a community."
Last year more than 8,000 bags of litter were picked up during the Neighbourhood Clean-Up Challenge which started last year.
Madigan is hoping those numbers will increase in 2022.
“We have already received orders for more than 3,900 CGB litter Bags, and our social media tags are brimming with photos of the many clean-up efforts that are already underway.”
As in the past, the 2022 launch of the Neighbourhood Clean-Up Challenge coincides with Earth Day - April 22nd. And while North Bay Earth Days are April 22-24, the Neighbourhood Clean-Up Challenge and other greening and beautification challenges will run until November.
Citizens wishing to participate can visit www.cleangreenbeautiful.com to register and to order bags.
“In addition to the amazing support from North Bay’s citizens, we have been overwhelmed by the number of companies and organizations who have stepped up to sponsor this year’s efforts," said Madigan.
"A total of 29 businesses and organizations have signed on to help, and we are so pleased by the response! We also couldn’t do this without Miller Waste who will pick up filled bags from the curb on regular garbage days at no charge."
Clean, Green, Beautiful North Bay exists to foster stewardship of our land, water, and community with a focus of raising civic pride and enhancing the beauty of our whole city. The Neighbourhood Clean Up Challenge is only one of the many exciting initiatives being undertaken to beautify our city - including preparation for Communities in Bloom (2023 submission).
