The sixteenth CIBC Run for the Cure will take place virtually on Sunday.

There’s online opening ceremonies (national event) then everyone does their own 5k or 1k walk/run.

"It will look different in every community," Director of Logistics for the North Bay run Melanie Gainforth told CKAT news. "Participants will go online to Facebook or Youtube at 11:30 Sunday morning for a 45-minute celebration."

Part of that will include the musical group Bare Naked Ladies.

"There will be a virtual Wall of Hope and you can leave messages there.and once you've watched were encouraging you to do your one or five km run with your someone in your bubble."

Gainforth says the local committee of 10 will do the usual run at the waterfront.

They’ll have a big pink chair set up at the waterfront for people to take a picture, or leave a message of support so the local event doesn't go unnoticed.

They’ve already surpassed their fundraising goal locally.

"We've had some incredible local teams in honour of their loved ones and raised significant dollars. We are over $24,000 online in North Bay and our goal was 20 so we've done very well," added Gainforth.
