The Community Christmas Day Dinner Committee is already preparing for the free Christmas Dinner which will be held in the Pro-Cathedral Parish Hall (480 McIntyre west) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and everyone is welcome Christmas day
Organizers add that the location is wheelchair accessible.
"Everyone who attends, along with over 100 volunteers, will enjoy entertainment, a delicious turkey dinner with all of the trimmings, and goodies to send them on their journey home," said Sylvia Antinozzi, Chairperson of the Christmas Day Dinner Committee in a release.
The Community Christmas Day Dinner Committee is a non-profit, non-denominational organization whose mission is: To create a warm comfortable atmosphere for those who wish to share a Christmas meal.
Antinozzi told CKAT their mission is to provide a meal to those that are hungry, or they're alone at Christmas.
"On their own it's not the same, they need the company, they need the atmosphere. Other people don't have the means for a big spread for Christmas, so we supply that," she says.
"At the Pro Cathedral it's the 11th year. It's been going on around town, different churches, then it became the Christmas Day Dinner Committee 11 years ago," Antinozzi says.
The non-denominational committee is thankful to the Pro-Cathedral for allowing this important event to be held in their Parish Hall.
Organizers also send out a special thank you to the Davedi Club for the use of their kitchen and to the many businesses and individuals who have made donations of food and/or money to pay for the expenses associated with this celebration.
