One of the most popular and high profile TV series shot in the area may not be returning to North Bay.

Multiple sources tell BayToday that a third season of the police drama "Carter" starring Jerry O'Connell has not been renewed.

However, none of the networks such as CTV or WGN, have confirmed that it has been officially cancelled yet.

Chris Farquhar, a local actor who played "Officer Rafalski" in the two seasons of the TV series went to Facebook to thank everyone involved in Carter.

"I feel beyond honoured to have had the opportunity to be a part of it," stated Farquhar via Facebook without mentioning the possible cancellation

The TV series almost exclusively shot in the North Bay area took the community by storm with the filming of its first season in the summer of 2017. Star Jerry O'Connell was everywhere in the community taking photos with fans, getting involved in local charities, and even received a key to the city of North Bay from mayor Al McDonald in the fall of 2017.

Carter production officials even hosted a screening of its first episode at the Capitol Centre in the spring of 2018.

Season two was filmed in the area in the summer of 2019 with much less fanfare.

Carter was commissioned by Sony Pictures Television (for AXN in Spain, Latin America, Brazil, Japan, Central Europe and Russia) and Bell Media, and is distributed outside of Canada by Sony.

In January 2019, the series was renewed for a second season by WGN America in the United States.

The second season premiered in Canada on October 25, 2019 and premiered on WGN America on January 20, 2020.
