Mark your calendars, Callander, because Sirens in the Park is happening on Saturday, September 21, rain or shine.

Astute Sirens in the Park fans will know the event has been postponed twice this year. Originally, the big day was planned for August 17. The threat of heavy rain put the kibosh on that. Organizers decided to move it to September 7.

Alas, there is rain forecast for this weekend as well, so organizers have decided to postpone again. Hence the move to September 21. If sunny, the event will be held at Centennial Park, as always. If rain falls, Sirens in the Park will relocate to take shelter under the roof of the Bill Barber Rink, behind the Community Centre at 1984 Swale Street, in Callander.

Hosted by the Callander Fire and Emergency Services, Sirens in the Park is an opportunity for the community to come out to meet the firefighters, and other first responders, such as police and paramedics.

Kids and families get to see the equipment and the vehicles, and there are also activities for the little ones. The bouncy castles are always a hit. The evening will wind down with a movie, the animated film Elemental.

The event begins at 10 a.m. and it’s a free community event.
