Sunny days at last year's Sirens in the Park, but with rain expected tomorrow, Callander decided to postpone the event

There will be no Sirens in the Park this Saturday, Callander.

Organizers have decided to move the event to Saturday, September 7th. The forecasted rain is the reason, as the event takes place outdoors in Centennial Park.

Municipal staff noted it was a “difficult decision” to move the event, which was originally scheduled for August 17th. However, the expected storm “would saturate the park ground, making it impractical to set up and operate our heavy fire apparatus in the park.”

Not to mention the bouncy castles “cannot be used in the rain,” and trying to screen a movie in the park “would be rendered impractical,” the municipality noted in a release.

Plus, the event receives “generous support” from local businesses, and given the forecast, “we believe it would be a poor use of the sponsorship funds provided to the fire department to proceed with the event under these circumstances.”

Staff noted, “We apologize for any inconvenience this postponement may cause and appreciate your understanding.”

There you have it. No Sirens in the Park this Saturday, August 17. Instead, prepare for the event’s new date of Saturday, September 7.
