Downtown construction won't disrupt this weekend's Pride Parade

'We apologize for the late announcement of the parade route, which was due to challenges in finding a route that avoids construction areas and other scheduled events'

North Bay Pride Parade goes on Saturday and it's preparing for "an incredible weekend of celebration, unity, and pride."

Events happen today and Saturday, September 14.

"We invite everyone to join us for two days filled with colour, music, and community spirit," says a release.

The Pride Parade will kick off at 2 on Saturday afternoon starting at the parking lot next to Canada Post at 100 Worthington Street East and proceeding down to Main Street East, then heading toward 195 Regina Street. (See the map in the photo gallery)

The march will cover a distance of approximately 1.1 km, offering a flat and accessible route for all participants.

"We encourage everyone to gather at the starting point by noon for vehicles and floats, and between 1 and 1:45 for walkers, to ensure a smooth start.

"We apologize for the late announcement of the parade route, which was due to challenges in finding a route that avoids construction areas and other scheduled events. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the City of North Bay for working with us to find a workable solution and make this parade possible."

The festivities kick off tonight with a spectacular drag competition at the Capitol Centre, starting at 7:30.

"Some of the most talented drag performers will battle it out on stage in a dazzling show of glamour, charisma, and artistry. Expect fierce performances, fabulous costumes, and captivating entertainment that you won't want to miss," says the release.

Following the Pride Parade on Saturday, the celebration continues with a concert featuring Kiesza, a multi-talented singer and songwriter known for her powerful voice and energetic performances. The concert will start at 7:30 at the Capitol Centre. Kiesza will be joined by special guests Logan Staats, a Grammy-nominated artist from the Six Nations, and Dani Doucette, who will set the tone for the evening with their soulful music.

The festivities don’t end with the concert. There is the official North Bay Pride Afterparty at Gateway City Brewery immediately following the concert.

"Celebrate with music, drinks, and great company as we keep the pride celebration going late into the night. It’s the perfect way to wrap up a day filled with joy, pride, and community spirit."
