Evan Smetana, who had two of the North Bay Bantam Bulldogs' five interceptions in their semifinal win on Saturday has been named the Ontario Summer Football League defensive player of the week.
The North Bay Bulldogs safety played a key part in the Bulldogs' 26-7 win over the Brantford Bisons in OSFL U14 semifinal action at the Mike O'Shea Field Saturday afternoon.
"This feels amazing, nothing better," said Smetana post-game.
"Our defence started off pretty slow with the throwing game but then we picked it up and once we started getting interceptions it was good."

Christa Morgan, the Bulldogs head coach, was impressed with Smetana's defensive player of the week accolades.
"Another one of my players was named defensive player of the week," exclaimed Morgan.
"A ton of tackles, two interceptions, what a fantastic game! Congrats Evan Smetana. He also has great makeup on game days," Morgan said, referring to the eye black worn by the players. "All these kids are making their coach so proud."
Smetana joins teammate Gage Campaigne, who was named the defensive player of the week twice this season.
Smetana and the rest of his Bulldogs teammates will be travelling to Windsor this weekend for the OSFL Bantam final as they take on Waterloo. Kickoff is set for 9 a.m. on Sunday.
