Boil water advisory

Dr. Jim Chirico, Medical Officer of Health, has issued a boil water advisory for all residents of Port Loring who receive water through Port Loring’s drinking water system.

Dr. Jim Chirico, Medical Officer of Health, has issued a boil water advisory for all residents of Port Loring who receive water through Port Loring’s drinking water system.

The order was issued due to a pressure loss in the water distribution system.

The Health Unit says the operator is working on restoring the water supply.

When the supply is restored, water used for consumption should be brought to a rolling boil and allowed to boil for one minute before use. Otherwise, the water is safe for adults to use for bathing purposes.

According to a Health Unit news release, residents of Port Loring should NOT:

  • Drink the water
  • Use it to brush their teeth
  • Use it to wash foods, such as fruits and vegetables which will be eaten raw
