Average Joe's Eatery and Patio Bar was making waves this summer by offering food delivery by jet ski on Trout Lake this summer, but this weekend they did something else unique as "music" was served off their docks as well as food and drink.

It was all part of the first-ever "Boat-A-Palooza."

The local band Maple Hill Project played music off the Average Joe's Docks for dozens of boaters. Jim Bruce, the owner of Average Joe's says the event was a great success.

"It reached my expectations and more," said Bruce.

"It was outstanding, it was a blast and for sure the best thing in 2020. The event itself was a way for people to have a break from the pandemic and get out and enjoy themselves socially and safely. We were fortunate to have one good day out of the five leading up to it so we are fortunate the event went off without a hitch."

Of course, the Maple Hill Project made up of local musicians Mark Robinson, Pat O'Kane, Robin Bilan, and Rob Aultman, was thrilled to play in front of a live audience once again.

"We had an amazing time at Boat-a-Palooza today," Maple Hill Project stated on its Facebook Page about the Sunday event.

"Thanks to Jim Bruce, all the staff at Average Joe’s and of course everyone who attended in all manner of floating vessels and the landlubbers too! We couldn’t have asked for a better afternoon!"

North Bay Mayor Al McDonald, who took in the event, was impressed.

"Well done Average Joe's, we will use this event as part of our tourism promotions in the future," said McDonald.

"Everyone stuck to their bubbles, wore face coverings when they entered and observed the six-foot rule."

The event was more than just a concert, Bruce says it was also a chance to give back and support a charity.

"We collected funds and food for The Gathering Place soup kitchen and that will be dropped off to them this week," said Bruce.
