Beware! The Shads of Summer

They're creepy, they stink, they 'pop' under your feet. They're harmless and they don't bite because they don't have a mouth.

Love 'em or hate 'em, shadflies emerge from Lake Nipissing as June turns to July, and business owners turn to their hoses to wash down their storefronts.

Some years the shads are so bad that sporting events have been cancelled.

Talented local videographer Neil Brown visited a ball diamond to see "The Shads of summer."
